Why us?

Here are just a few of the reason's why you should book with Prince of Wales Sportfishing:

-We are cognoscente of ocean conditions at all times and cater our charters to the comfort of our customers.  After all, this is your trip!

-All of our charters are full day trips, with the average trip running from 8 to 10 hours, and even longer depending on fishing conditions.

-We are attentive to detail and know where the fish are on a daily basis.

-We use fresh bait and top of the line equipment, electronics, and boats.

-We use light tackle, which translates into more fun for our customers.

-Our method of drift mooching is perhaps the most enjoyable technique for taking salmon in the saltwater.  No staring at a downrigger rod on our charters...all hands-on action here!

-With many islands between Craig and the ocean, we have the choice of fishing the open water of the Pacific or the protected water amidst the islands.

-We are full time guides, with several thousand guided trips between us.

-Book with us and discover why 90% of our business comes from referrals and repeat customers.

Bob Gray
Bob has spent the majority of his life pursuing salmon, steelhead, and halibut in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Growing up near Fisherman's Terminal in Seattle it didn't take Bob long to find a job on a commercial fishing boat out of high school. Working his way up thru the ranks, Bob quickly became a captain and ran large crab and trawl vessels on the Bering Sea for over a decade. By the early 90's with commercial fishing on the decline, however, Bob shifted his efforts to sportfishing charters, whichCaptain Bob your alaskan charter skipper he still does to this day. In addition to running charters in Southeast Alaska, Bob is also a freshwater guide on the rivers of Washington State during the winter months.

In 1994 Bob and his wife, Patty, started "Wooden Wheel Cove Lodge", a full service sportfishing lodge located on Prince of Wales island in Southeast Alaska. Bob guided lodge guests from all over the world to the best salmon and halibut fishing the ocean has to offer. After achieving success, Bob and his wife sold the lodge in 2001 to simplify their lives and to give Bob a chance to get to what he really loves...fishing!

In August of 2001 Bob started "Prince of Wales sportfishing" in Craig, Alaska. With the smaller operation he once again found himself guiding people on a daily basis providing the customer service that people expect when they travel to Alaska to fish. Bob continues to spend summers in Alaska, as he has done for over 20 years. He is proficient in all styles of fishing, from fly to terminal tackle, and he enjoys teaching people that are new to fishing just as much as taking out experienced fishers.

Rob Endsley
Rob is a full time guide who has run saltwater charters and river trips in Washington State since 1993.  Rob has been featured in numerous publications and television shows on the subject of catching northwest salmon and steelhead and hosted the popular television fishing show, Fisherman's Heaven, for two years.  Rob is an instructor at Salmon University and gives seminars at sporting shows, clubs, and tackle shops throughout the year.Captain Rob on left, your charter skipper

Rob grew up in Port Orchard and graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Science in 1994 from Western Washington University.  He spends a great deal of time on the rivers of the North Puget Sound, but frequents Washington's Olympic Peninsula and has spent a great deal of time travelling the west in pursuit of salmon and steelhead.
